"Oradour" constitutes the first album of Stahlwerk 9 that is published by a label, after several CD-R releases. The main theme is the massacre in the French village of Oradour-sur-Glâne by the German troups during the II World War. The album starts with the fantastic poem of Emmanuel d'Astier de la Vigerie, "La Complainte du Partisan", which was put into music by Anna Marly in 1943 ( and also sung by Leonard Cohen to give you an idea). Then comes a oppressive and dark music, with drones, samples, cold atmospheric and ambient music, intense industrial music at its best that reminds the atrocity of this tragic period in History. Stahlwerk 9 is certainly the best new project I heard for ages in the dark ambient industrial scene, with a strong capacity in creating a high quality in music and a true strength in developing through a precise theme.
